Filipino surfers advance to round of 32 in WSL Siargao Cup

Filipino surfers John Mark Tokong, Eduardo Alciso, Shelamae Arjona, and Nilbie Blancada have advanced to the round of 32 in the World Surf League QS6000 Siargao International Surfing Cup.

Tokong, a 29-year-old local favorite, secured his spot by scoring 9.83 points in his heat.

Alciso also progressed, taking second place in his heat with a score of 8.00.

Several international surfers, including Australia's Dane Henry, Indonesia's I Made Ariyana, Japan's Jin Suzuki, and Italy's Diego Cordeiro, also advanced.

In the women's competition, Arjona scored 6.43 to move into the round of 32, where she will join Blancada, who was seeded directly into that stage.

Other international qualifiers included surfers from Japan, Australia, and Great Britain.

The competition faced a temporary postponement due to small waves and current conditions, with organizers pushing the next round to Monday.
