Senators urge vigilance vs foreign aggression on Independence Day

On the 126th anniversary of Philippine independence, senators urged Filipinos to remain vigilant and defend the nation's sovereignty and national interest against foreign aggression.

Senate President Francis Escudero emphasized the significance of the year's theme, "Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan," and encouraged citizens to draw inspiration from the nation's heroes to work towards a better future.

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada called on Filipinos to show international unity in defending their rights, natural resources, and territory, stating that "Our concern for each other is the strongest weapon against foreign forces."

Senators Risa Hontiveros and Joel Villanueva echoed these sentiments, particularly in light of China's actions in the West Philippine Sea.

Hontiveros urged Filipinos to unite and bravely make a stand to protect national interests and continue to fight for their rights in their territory against all attempts to steal it.
