Filipino cyclist Patrick Coo bags bronze, eyes SEA Games gold

Filipino cyclist Patrick Coo is expected to contend for the gold medal in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Thailand after securing a bronze medal at the Asian BMX Championships in Japan.

Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino expressed confidence in Coo, seeing him as a strong contender to improve on the Philippines' previous two bronze medals in cycling at the SEA Games.

Coo's bronze medal performance earned him 22 UCI ranking points, with Japanese riders Asuma Nakai and Ryo Shimada taking gold and silver respectively.

Another Filipino competitor, Niño Martin Eday, finished eighth in the race.

Thailand's ace Sukprasert, a dominant force in the 2019 SEA Games, was notably absent from the championships.
