Filipino crewman's remains to arrive Sept 17

The remains of Joe Canete Linao, a Filipino crew member of the sunken Gulf Livestock 1, will arrive in the Philippines on September 17.

Linao's body will be flown back from Japan via Philippine Airlines Flight No. PR 427 and will be transferred domestically to General Santos City.

The two Filipino survivors, Jaynel Rosales and Eduardo Sareno, are expected to be repatriated to the Philippines next week.

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Osaka has provided the survivors with necessary assistance and is maintaining communication with their families.

Jaynel Rosales is scheduled for hospital discharge today and will be staying at Hotel New Amami while awaiting repatriation.

Japanese Coast Guard patrol operations have so far yielded no sightings of the missing crew members or the vessel.
