FEU Lady Tamaraws sweep UST Golden Tigresses in UAAP volleyball

The Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws defeated the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses in a 3-1 victory in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament, with set scores of 25-22, 26-24, 17-25, and 26-24.

This win places FEU at a 5-3 record, tying them with UST and La Salle for third place in the standings.

Faida Bakanke led the Lady Tamaraws with 22 points, supported by Gerzel Petallo and Jazlyn Ellarina, who each scored 12 points.

Captain Tine Ubaldo contributed 22 excellent sets for FEU's offense, and Petallo added 15 digs.

FEU staged a comeback in the fourth set, overcoming a 10-16 deficit to secure the match.

This victory marks FEU's first head-to-head sweep against UST since Season 80 in 2018.

FEU head coach Tina Salak expressed high expectations for the team, emphasizing increased responsibility and the importance of the win for their second-round performance.

Key plays in the fourth set included Gerzel Petallo's four consecutive points to give FEU a 20-19 lead, Chenie Tagaod's clutch drop ball to tie the score, Mitzi Panangin's match-sealing ace, and Jean Asis's crucial block on Reg Jurado's attack.
