FEU Lady Tamaraws defeat Ateneo to end first round on winning note

The Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws defeated the Ateneo de Manila University in four sets, with scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-13, 25-21, to conclude the first round of the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament.

This victory secured FEU the solo fourth position in the league standings with a 4-3 record, moving them closer to their goal of reaching the Final Four.

Chen Tagaod was FEU's top scorer with 18 points, while Jean Asis contributed 12 points and Faida Bakanke added 11.

FEU's head coach, Manolo Refugia, noted the team's effective net defense, which earned them 15 points from kill blocks.

However, FEU's ace setter Christine Ubaldo emphasized the need for the team to "level up" their performance in the second round, expressing concern about other teams closing in.

Ateneo, with hitters Lyann De Guzman and Sophia Buena combining for 36 points, fell to a 2-5 record and are now tied with Adamson at fifth place.
