FEU Lady Tamaraws begin UAAP Season 87 with win over UST Golden Tigresses

The Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws commenced their UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball campaign with a victory, defeating the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses in four sets with scores of 25-19, 16-25, 25-14, and 25-20.

Key players for FEU included Faida Bakanke with 16 points, Gerzel Petallo with 15 points, and Jean Asis with 14 points.

Chenie Tagaod and Jaz Ellarina also contributed significantly with 10 and 6 points, respectively.

FEU secured the win with a 12-to-4 run in the fourth set after trailing, 16-13, with the collective efforts of Petallo, Tagaod, and Ellarina.

FEU head coach Tina Salak noted that in-game adjustments were crucial for their win, balancing their strategy in the third and fourth sets.

Salak also acknowledged the team's initial jitters but emphasized their hard work in securing the opening-day victory against the Season 86 finalists.

Petallo deflected credit to her teammates, stating that multiple players contributed to the team's success.

Despite the win, Salak stressed that the team has a long way to go to show continuous growth.
