FAMAS apologizes for mistakenly announcing Rosa Rosal's death

The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) has apologized to veteran actress Rosa Rosal and her family for mistakenly announcing her death.

FAMAS initially posted an obituary card of the 97-year-old actress on its social media platforms, which has since been deleted.

The organization admitted that the information provided to them was false, stating that Ms. Rosal "remains with us."

Entertainment journalist Mell Navarro confirmed with Rosal's grandnephew, William Thio, that the retired actress is alive.

Navarro later shared a video from Thio showing Rosal introducing herself and greeting viewers with "Merry Christmas."

FAMAS reiterated its apologies, assuring the public that it will be more vigilant in verifying information before releasing statements.
