Ex-PNP FEO chief guilty of 23 graft charges over rifle licenses

Former Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) chief BGen. Raul Petrasanta has been found guilty by the Sandiganbayan of 23 counts of graft related to the illegal issuance of rifle licenses.

The conviction stems from the unlawful approval of a firearms license deal involving at least 19 high-powered AK-47s for JTC Mineral Mining Corporation between 2011 and 2012.

Petrasanta, along with other ranking police officials including SSupt. Napoleon Estilles, knowingly approved the deal despite the firm not meeting qualifications and irregularities in supporting documents.

The Sandiganbayan Sixth Division also convicted former Firearms and Licensing Division chief SSupt. Eduardo Acierto on 11 counts and assistant division chief SSupt. Allan A. Parreño on 10 counts.

Other convicted officials include PDir. Gil C. Meneses, CSupt. Tomas Rentoy III, CInsp. Nelson Bautista, SPO1 Randy De Sesto, and CInsp. Ricardo Zapata Jr., with varying numbers of graft counts.
