Former Pangasinan Rep. Christopher de Venecia and Sual Mayor Liseldo Calugay are facing plunder and other charges for allegedly ghost flood control projects worth P286 million in Pangasinan.
The complaint was filed at the Office of the Ombudsman by local journalist and tricycle driver association leader Jaime Aquino.
Aquino claimed that two flood control projects showed no signs of actual work despite the allocated funds.
He stated that the projects were supposedly undertaken by Calugay, his wife Garly Macaranas Calugay of Bet Construction and Supply, and some DPWH officials, along with contractors.
Aquino also accused De Venecia of collecting 20% from all contractors for various projects, not just flood control.
Aquino further stated that Calugay is the real owner of Bet Construction and Supply.
Calugay was previously invited to a Senate hearing concerning POGOs due to his alleged ties to former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo.
