Ex-DTI chief Pascual joins BDO board

Former Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual has been appointed as an independent director at BDO Unibank, a banking arm of the SM Group.

BDO Unibank's board approved Pascual's election on August 31, making him the second former DTI Secretary to join the board of a Sy-led company, following Ramon Lopez.

Pascual resigned from the DTI effective August 2, having served as Secretary from June 2022, and previously held positions at the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD).

He also previously served as lead independent director of SM Investments Corp. and on the boards of other listed companies.

Undersecretary Ma. Cristina Aldeguer-Roque has taken over as the officer-in-charge of the DTI.
