Supreme Court condemns killing of lawyer outside his home in Palawan
Atty. Joshua Abrina, former legal officer of the Department of Education (DepEd) Palawan, was shot dead in Puerto Princesa City on Wednesday, September 17.
He was attacked by an unidentified gunman in front of his house around 8:30 p.m. as he was unloading belongings from his vehicle.
The Supreme Court, through acting Chief Justice Marvic Leonen, condemned the killing as a 'senseless act of violence' and a grave matter that strikes at the core of justice.
The Supreme Court extended its condolences to Abrina's family and friends.
Leonen directed the Chief Marshal and Deputy Marshal for Luzon to contact relevant investigative agencies for updates to review policies ensuring lawyer safety.
DepEd also condemned the killing and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement.
The Puerto Princesa City Police Office has activated a Special Investigation Task Group to determine the motive and identify the suspect.
