Ex-Bacolod mayor questions election results

Ousted Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia is questioning the results of the May 9 elections, citing a "mysterious and unbelievable" vote difference in his stronghold areas.

Leonardia, who lost his bid for a third term to former Negrense legislator Alfredo Benitez, stated that the vote count pattern was "almost consistent" and caused disbelief among his supporters.

He mentioned that his legal team will be looking into possible legal remedies to have the vote counting machines rechecked to address the concerns raised.

Leonardia garnered 107,447 votes, significantly lower than Benitez's 171,893 votes.

He also expressed gratitude to his supporters and the Grupo Progreso slate for their efforts and unwavering support throughout the challenging election period.
