Estrada files bills for disaster resilience agency, food banks

Senator Jinggoy Estrada is proposing two key measures to enhance the Philippines' disaster preparedness and response systems following the recent devastation caused by Tropical Storm Crising.

The first measure involves refiling a bill to establish a Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR), an agency designed to centralize and strengthen disaster management efforts nationwide.

The proposed DDR would be responsible for unifying, streamlining, and coordinating all aspects of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

Estrada also advocates for the Disaster Food Bank and Stockpile Act, which aims to create a national network of food banks and relief supplies for immediate distribution during emergencies.

He emphasized that proactive planning and readiness are crucial for disaster resilience, aiming to minimize loss of life, hunger, and delays in recovery.

Estrada believes these initiatives will ensure the government is better equipped to anticipate, act, and provide timely assistance to Filipinos in need.
