Estil shines in draft combine, selected by Ginebra

Sonny Estil, a player previously unknown to many, led Team A-2 Barangay Ginebra to a 37-35 victory over Team D-1 San Miguel in the PBA Draft Combine mini-tournament.

Estil hit the game-winning basket with 1.6 seconds left and was named the Most Valuable Player out of 125 players.

His performance at the combine earned him a spot on the PBA Draft Combine's Mythical Five.

Coach Tim Cone, upon returning from the United States, noted Estil's MVP performance and expressed concern he might not be available when Ginebra picked.

Fortunately, Estil was still available when Ginebra selected him with the 11th overall pick in the PBA Draft.

Estil, a 24-year-old forward, hopes his performance will lead to a PBA career, having previously played in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) for the Pampanga Giant Lanterns.
