ERC approves Lihangin Wind Energy Corp. 206.25 MW wind farm connection to Visayas grid

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved Lihangin Wind Energy Corp. (LWEC) to connect its 206.25-megawatt wind farm in Northern Samar to the Visayas grid.

LWEC is a joint venture by Aboitiz Renewables, Vivant Energy, and Singapore-based Vena Energy.

The ERC authorized LWEC to build and own transmission facilities, including the 138 kV San Isidro Substation, with an approved project cost of P1.03 billion.

However, the ERC denied LWEC's request to operate and maintain the facilities, assigning these responsibilities to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

The wind farm is expected to begin operations in February 2026.

Initially, the project will connect to NGCP's Calbayog substation until the new San Isidro substation is completed.
