Eraserheads awarded UP Gawad Oblation medals

The iconic Filipino band Eraserheads were honored with UP Gawad Oblation medals at UP Diliman on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

This award, established in 2017, is the highest distinction the university can grant, recognizing significant contributions and service to the country and the university.

The citation praised the band for their enduring excellence and for reflecting UP's commitment to national pride and cultural excellence.

Band members Marcus Adoro, Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, and Buddy Zabala, all former UP students, received their medals.

Ely Buendia expressed gratitude to UP for fostering their creativity and instilling courage and responsibility, while Raimund Marasigan noted the honor felt like a graduation.

Buddy Zabala expressed his emotions, stating his heart was bursting, and Marcus Adoro called themselves 'gold medalists'.
