Employers must provide transport for workers in QC areas

Employers in areas under enhanced or modified community quarantine are mandated to provide shuttle services for workers who rely on public transportation.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III emphasized that companies cannot compel employees to report to work if transportation is not provided.

The requirement is specifically for businesses allowed to operate despite the suspension of public transport.

In addition to shuttle services, employers are responsible for the cost of personal protective equipment, such as face masks.

Ensuring a safe working environment, including physical distancing measures like one-way walkways and strategically placed desks, is also a mandatory employer responsibility.

Employees are still required to adhere to safety protocols, including disinfection, frequent handwashing, and temperature checks.
