EJ Obiena brings world pole vault challenge to PH

Filipino pole vault star EJ Obiena is fulfilling his lifelong dream of staging a world-class sporting event in his homeland with the Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge on September 20-21 at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City.

The event is sanctioned by World Athletics Continental Tour-Bronze category, allowing participating athletes to earn ranking points.

The competition aims to attract some of the world's top pole vaulters, including World no. 1 Mondo Duplantis, who recently set a new world record of 6.28m.

This historic event, a collaboration between Atletang Ayala, MVP Sports Foundation, and Obiena, was initially planned for last year but was postponed due to Obiena's recovery from a spinal injury.

Obiena, currently ranked world no. 4, is scheduled to compete in the Meeting Herculis EBS in Monaco on July 11.
