EcoWaste Coalition finds precincts litter-free amid Eleksyon 2025

The EcoWaste Coalition reported that polling precincts in Eleksyon 2025 were generally litter-free, attributing this to the Commission on Elections' (Comelec) campaign for eco-friendly polls and the provision of trash bags.

Despite the cleanliness within precincts, the group observed litter in the form of campaign materials and single-use food packaging on sidewalks and street corners near voting centers.

EcoWaste Coalition monitored over 40 schools in various locations across Luzon, including Metro Manila, Bataan, Bulacan, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Rizal, and in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

The organization reiterated its call for candidates, regardless of election outcome, to actively participate in post-election clean-up operations nationwide.

Cris Lague of EcoWaste Coalition emphasized that candidates must take full responsibility for the environmental impact of their campaigns by ensuring proper retrieval and management of their campaign materials.
