Duterte unlikely to endorse Pacquiao for president

President Rodrigo Duterte's endorsement of Senator Manny Pacquiao's presidential bid in the 2022 elections is now unlikely due to a souring relationship.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the relationship between the President and Senator Pacquiao is no longer as cordial as it once was.

Roque commented that Pacquiao criticizing Duterte is a bad strategy for his presidential bid, as they have been allies for a long time.

Roque previously mentioned that the President had considered endorsing Pacquiao, along with Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr., particularly if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte decided not to run.

Despite the current situation, Roque acknowledged that in politics, "anything is possible" and did not definitively rule out a future endorsement.
