Duterte slams vaccine selectivity

President Rodrigo Duterte criticized Filipinos who are only willing to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, emphasizing that such selectiveness disregards the well-being of other citizens.

Duterte stated that people cannot be exclusive in their vaccine preference, as Pfizer is only one of the many vaccines being distributed.

He argued that if only a select few take all the available Pfizer vaccines, others who also want it would not be able to get vaccinated.

The President stressed that the government cannot administer vaccines exclusively to certain groups while excluding others, advocating for a blind approach where any available vaccine is accepted.

Duterte asserted that all vaccines are effective against the virus and that the best vaccine is the one that is available to an individual.

He highlighted the need for equality in vaccine distribution, questioning how other Filipinos, particularly those in Visayas and Mindanao, would be served if Pfizer vaccines were monopolized.
