Duterte pushes house-to-house Covid-19 vaccination drive amid vaccine expiry fears

The National Task Force Against Covid-19 is studying the proposal for a house-to-house vaccination drive, an idea strongly favored by President Rodrigo Duterte to address unused vaccines and encourage vaccination.

Duterte urged the Department of Health to consider this initiative, especially in the countryside, due to millions of vaccine doses set to expire in the coming months.

He noted that a significant number of Filipinos are still refusing vaccination despite the availability of doses.

The President also suggested that the government could consider donating Covid-19 vaccines to countries experiencing shortages.

Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Jose "Joey" Concepcion III had previously warned that approximately 27 million doses could expire within three months if not used.

The final decision on the house-to-house vaccination drive will depend on the outcome of the NTF's study.
