Duterte OKs risk allowance for health workers fighting COVID-19

President Rodrigo Duterte has issued guidelines for the release of a special risk allowance for public health workers battling COVID-19.

This allowance, authorized by Administrative Order 28, can be granted by national government agencies, GOCCs, and LGUs.

The special risk allowance is a one-time grant equivalent to a maximum of 25% of the worker's basic pay.

The allowance aims to recognize the heroic efforts of public health workers who are risking their lives and health on the frontlines.

Personnel covered include medical, allied medical, and other essential staff directly attending to or in contact with COVID-19 patients, PUIs, and PUMs.

The amount received will be pro-rated based on the number of days the health worker physically reported for duty during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

The issuance of the allowance highlights the government's acknowledgment of the invaluable contributions of these frontliners.
