PRRD okays release of P51-B aid for middle income workers
President Rodrigo Duterte has approved a P50.8 billion wage subsidy program for middle-income workers affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Small Business Relief Program aims to assist approximately 1.6 million small businesses and their 3.4 million employees.
Eligible workers, employed as of March 1 and not yet paid for that month, will receive P5,000 to P8,000 per family for April and May, computed based on regional minimum wage rates.
The subsidy will be disbursed in two tranches in May, with the first between May 1 to May 15 and the second between May 16 to May 30.
Medium and big-scale businesses are not covered by this wage subsidy.
