Duterte not exposed to COVID-19 positive PSG member

President Rodrigo Duterte has not been exposed to any Presidential Security Group (PSG) member who tested positive for COVID-19, with the infected individual having since recovered.

According to PSG Commander Colonel Jesus Durante III, the infected PSG member was not part of the President's close-in security detail.

Durante reassured that those who have contracted or are suspected to be carriers of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cannot go near President Duterte to ensure his utmost safety.

Since March, 160 PSG members have tested positive for COVID-19 using rapid tests.

Only one PSG member has tested positive for the virus via the more accurate polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, and this individual has long recovered.

Ninety close-in PSG personnel have been tested by PCR, and the majority of the 159 PSG personnel have already been cleared and found to be negative.

The PSG conducts rapid testing every two weeks to ensure the President's safety, with infected personnel undergoing quarantine and PCR tests.
