Duterte gets Sinopharm booster shot on doctor's advice

President Rodrigo Duterte received a Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine as a booster shot upon the advice of his personal physician.

Acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles confirmed that Duterte did not experience any adverse effects from the Sinopharm booster.

The decision for the President to receive Sinopharm as a booster was made between him and his personal doctor.

This comes as the Department of Health (DOH) is still studying the appropriate booster shots for individuals who received the Sinopharm vaccine due to a lack of data.

Nograles mentioned that the country's experts panel is in touch with Sinopharm manufacturers for data to issue recommendations as soon as possible.

The President had previously announced his Sinopharm booster dose on January 6, having received his primary Sinopharm doses in May and July of 2021.
