Duterte declares 2020 as Year of Letran Quadricentennial

President Rodrigo Duterte declared 2020 as the Year for the Celebration of the Quadricentennial Anniversary of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran through Proclamation 908, signed on February 21.

The proclamation recognizes Letran's significant contributions to the nation's history and development by forming individuals who excelled in various fields, including national heroes, leaders, and artists, as well as through community services.

Founded in 1620 by Don Juan Geronimo Guerrero and Diego de Santa Maria, Letran is one of the Philippines' oldest academic institutions.

Throughout its history, it has produced notable alumni such as national heroes like Manuel Quezon, Sergio Osmeña, Apolinario Mabini, and Marcelo del Pilar, as well as past leaders like Emilio Aguinaldo.

Letran has remained committed to knowledge and excellence despite enduring wars and calamities.

The college currently operates four campuses across the country in Manila, Bataan, Pangasinan, and Laguna.

Letran began its quadricentennial celebration in November 2016.
