PNP chief trains for charity boxing match amid Duterte's absence

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Nicolas Torre III is training for a charity boxing match against Davao City Acting Mayor Baste Duterte, scheduled for Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Malate, Manila.

Torre has begun training, including jogging in the rain, and confirmed that the venue is ready with a ring set up.

Sponsors are committed to donating relief goods and funding each round, and these donations will proceed regardless of Duterte's attendance.

Duterte's condition for the match is that Torre must convince President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to publicly state that all elected officials should undergo hair follicle drug testing.

However, Duterte has flown to Singapore on Friday morning, according to information received by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla commented that Duterte should have focused on helping victims of recent typhoons and floods instead of engaging in a fistfight.
