Duterte asks P4.5 billion for intel, confidential funds in 2022 budget

President Rodrigo Duterte's office is requesting P4.5 billion for intelligence and confidential funds in the proposed 2022 national budget, which is the last pandemic budget under his administration.

The proposed budget allocates P2.25 billion for intelligence funds and another P2.25 billion for confidential funds under the Office of the President.

This requested amount is consistent with the allocation received by the Office of the President in 2020 and 2021.

The total proposed national budget for 2022 is P5.024 trillion, with 4% earmarked for COVID-19 pandemic response.

Previously, from 2017 to 2019, the Office of the President requested P2.5 billion for these funds, which was already significantly higher than the P250 million requested during the Aquino III administration.
