Duterte asks employers to advance 13th-month pay

President Duterte urged employers to advance the 13th-month pay or at least half of their employees' salaries to help them cope with the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.

This appeal is part of the government's efforts to mitigate the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic on workers.

The President specifically called on large corporations like those owned by Pangilinan, Ayala, Coson, and Robinsons to show solidarity with their employees during this critical time.

In addition to financial assistance, Duterte also requested a moratorium on lease rentals and a reprieve on utility bills for affected individuals.

He also encouraged business leaders to extend support to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises that might be struggling due to the quarantine measures.

The enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, which includes strict home quarantine and travel restrictions, aims to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
