Duterte asks COA to audit govt funds in PRC

President Rodrigo Duterte has requested the Commission on Audit (COA) to conduct a special audit on government funds allocated to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque clarified that only the portion of PRC's funds received from the government should be subject to audit.

Duterte claimed in a taped address that Senator Richard Gordon is afraid to subject the PRC to COA scrutiny.

The President questioned where the money has gone and stated that Gordon will face reckoning, demanding an answer through a COA report.

Duterte mentioned that auditors may look into the cost of RT-PCR testing and agreements PRC made with Metro Manila mayors for mass testing.

He also noted a P100 million advance payment from PhilHealth to the PRC.

Gordon, who is the PRC chairman, also chairs the Senate blue ribbon committee investigating government pandemic supply purchases from Pharmally corporation.
