Duterte accepts Nayong Pilipino exec director resignation amid vax facility row

President Rodrigo Duterte accepted the resignation of Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) executive director Lucille Karen Malilong-Isberto.

Isberto had opposed the construction of a mega COVID-19 vaccination facility on NPF land in Parañaque City, a project backed by vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. and proposed by the ICTSI Foundation of tycoon Enrique Razon.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles confirmed the acceptance of resignation and stated that the vaccination facility project will proceed.

Razon referred to NPF board members as "idiots" for opposing the project, while NPF board members raised concerns about cutting native trees and the legality of a private corporation building on government land.

However, the Department of Tourism clarified that no trees will be affected and that NPF executives chose the Parañaque property for the vaccination site.
