DTI targets P2 trillion contribution from creative industries this year

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) aims for the creative industries to contribute P2 trillion to the Philippine economy this year.

Last year, the creative economy's value rose by nine percent to P1.94 trillion from P1.78 trillion in 2023.

This sector accounted for 7.3 percent of the country's gross domestic product in the previous year.

Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque highlighted the goal during the Malikhaing Pinoy Expo, emphasizing the need to push the industry forward.

The DTI is working to position the Philippines as Asia's creative hub by 2030.

The agency organized the Malikhaing Pinoy Expo from Sept. 3 to 7 to elevate the nation's creative domains.

Roque stated that Filipino creativity is globally recognized and is being positioned as a strategic economic pillar to drive growth and create jobs.
