The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has filed formal complaints against eight contractor-licensees implicated in the flood control projects corruption scandal.
These complaints stem from alleged violations of construction industry regulations due to their involvement in irregular flood control projects.
The DTI exercised its regulatory authority under Executive Order No. 913 (series of 1983) and other relevant laws to file the charges.
The accused contractors are among the top 15 firms that secured a significant portion of P545 billion in flood control contracts, as previously disclosed by President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.
The eight contractor-licensees facing charges include Legacy Construction Corporation, Centerways Construction & Development Inc., Alpha & Omega General Contractor & Development Corp., MG Samidan Construction, L.R. Tiqui Builders Inc., QM Builders, EGB Construction Corporation, and Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corporation.
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque confirmed that the complaints were filed before the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board-Monitoring and Enforcement Division (PCAB-MED).
