DSWD resumes guarantee letters for medical and burial aid, suspends cash aid

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has resumed the issuance of guarantee letters for medical and burial assistance starting January 5, 2026.

These guarantee letters are part of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, which provides medical and burial services to eligible beneficiaries.

However, the DSWD will temporarily suspend the issuance of direct cash aid under the AICS program starting January 5, 2026.

This suspension is due to existing policies from the Department of Budget and Management and the pending release of funds for 2026.

Despite the cash aid suspension, DSWD Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson Irene Dumlao assured that services through guarantee letters will continue to provide immediate support.

Clients can now request assistance by visiting the nearest DSWD Field Office, with a list of offices available on their official website.
