DSWD removes pre-distribution validation to speed up aid release

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has removed the pre-distribution validation process for COVID-19 aid beneficiaries to hasten the release of emergency subsidies.

Local government units (LGUs) can now distribute cash aid within 24 hours of receiving funds.

Beneficiary validation will be conducted after the payout, within 15 days of the DSWD receiving supporting documents from LGUs.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles stated that the P5,000 to P8,000 cash aid for the social amelioration program can now be immediately given to those in need.

As of April 16, the DSWD had distributed an additional P1.3 billion worth of emergency subsidies to 236,331 low-income families.

The government has allocated P200 billion for the emergency subsidy program, aiming to assist 18 million low-income families in April and May.

The cash subsidy is intended to help families cope with the enhanced community quarantine implemented to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
