DSWD distributes PHP293M aid to families hit by storms

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided PHP293 million in assistance nationwide to families affected by consecutive weather disturbances, including the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong.

A total of 1,380,087 families, or 4,934,207 individuals in 5,501 barangays across the country, have been affected.

In Calabarzon specifically, over 43,000 families were impacted by continuous rains enhanced by tropical cyclones, with 10,255 families in 260 evacuation centers.

The DSWD released an additional 7,000 family food packs, valued at PHP4.35 million, from its Cavite warehouse for distribution in Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas.

Nationwide, the DSWD has distributed 431,722 family food packs and 3,903 ready-to-eat food boxes, along with various non-food items like blankets and hygiene kits.

Relief operations are ongoing nationwide in coordination with local government units, with the DSWD continuing to provide assistance as directed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
