DSWD provides over P154M aid to typhoon Odette-hit areas

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported that areas devastated by Typhoon Odette have received over P154 million in humanitarian assistance as of December 28.

The total aid includes P115 million from the DSWD, P38 million from local government units, and P1 million from NGOs and other partners.

The typhoon affected over 1.18 million families or more than 4.65 million individuals across 10 regions, with 81,334 families seeking refuge in evacuation centers.

The DSWD also facilitated the delivery of play therapy kits, learners' kits, school-in-bag/teacher's kits, and oral hygiene kits to affected regions.

This initiative is part of the DSWD's efforts to address the needs of children under the Children's Emergency Relief and Protection Act of 2016.

The DSWD also extended its gratitude to the Taiwanese government for its donation to the victims of typhoon Odette in the Visayas.
