DSWD on full alert for habagat, LPA with over 2M food packs ready

The Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) is on full alert to address potential emergencies caused by the southwest monsoon ('habagat') and a low pressure area (LPA).

Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao stated that frontline disaster response personnel nationwide are on standby, even during potential government work suspensions, to ensure immediate assistance.

The DSWD has more than 2 million family food packs (FFPs) prepositioned in warehouses across the country.

Additionally, over 116,858 ready-to-eat food boxes are strategically placed in key ports for individuals who might be stranded due to suspended sea travel.

These ready-to-eat food boxes will also be available for evacuees as an immediate food source while local government units set up community kitchens.

The agency also has 313,197 non-food items, including family kits, hygiene kits, kitchen kits, blankets, and modular tents, ready for distribution to those in evacuation centers.
