DPWH to hire 2,000 engineers, accountants in 2026

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will launch a recruitment drive in January 2026 to hire approximately 2,000 engineers and accountants.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon stated the goal is to bring in "best and the brightest" young talent with "fresh blood" to implement reforms within the agency.

Recruitment efforts will begin with engineers in January and accountants in March, targeting graduates from major universities nationwide.

Secretary Dizon highlighted that these vacancies are partly due to resignations and dismissals or suspensions of about 90 officials and employees involved in flood control project anomalies.

He urged universities to assist in recruiting individuals, emphasizing the importance of the younger generation participating in the DPWH's reform efforts.

Dizon personally encouraged graduates to join, stating that "Bilang na araw ko sa DPWH. Two years na lang ako dito. Ang hope talaga natin nasa mga bata."
