The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has initiated administrative proceedings against 49 personnel, with 40 currently under preventive suspension and four dismissed from service, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
This internal cleansing initiative was revealed by Undersecretary Ricardo Bernabe III during the 2025 Sikhay Laban sa Korapsyon (SiLaK) event in Pasig.
The DPWH has also filed criminal cases against 63 individuals before the Office of the Ombudsman.
Undersecretary Bernabe emphasized that accountability will be pursued regardless of position or influence, stating that "No title, no influence, and no position grants immunity."
The move follows the issuance of an arrest warrant against former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co and other DPWH officials and private individuals.
Previously, eight DPWH Davao Occidental officials and two individuals from St. Timothy Construction Corporation faced graft and malversation charges for a P96.5-million 'ghost project'.
