All national roads in the Davao Region remain passable following two strong earthquakes that struck Davao Oriental, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced.
While national roads are clear, some local roads sustained damage from landslides caused by the tremors.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, along with Secretaries Rex Gatchalian and Sonny Angara, and MinDA Chairperson Leo Magno inspected the affected areas.
To speed up clearing efforts for local roads, the DPWH provided quick response assets to the provincial government.
The DPWH will also exert all efforts to build medical tents and evacuation sites, and assess other public structures like schools and hospitals.
The earthquakes that hit Davao Oriental on Friday included a magnitude 7.4 tremor and a subsequent magnitude 6.8 tremor.
