DPWH bans Wawao Builders for life over corruption

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has imposed a lifetime ban on Wawao Builders and its affiliates due to alleged corruption and substandard flood control projects.

Wawao Builders is among the top contractors in the Philippines' flood control sector and has been linked to ghost projects and corruption allegations.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon announced the ban after inspecting a P96.5-million flood control project in Bulacan that was found to be poorly executed.

SYMS Construction Trading has also been banned for its role in a P55-million ghost flood control project inspected by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The lifetime ban extends to all known affiliates of Wawao Builders, including companies with the same owners but separate legal entities.
