DPWH engineer Alcantara briefly hospitalized, cleared of chest discomfort

Dismissed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan engineer Henry Alcantara was briefly hospitalized due to chest discomfort but was later cleared by doctors, according to Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca.

Alcantara was taken to Pasay Medical Center for an electrocardiogram and other tests to check his condition.

The hospital ruled his discomfort as a muscle spasm, and he was returned to the Senate premises on the same day he was admitted.

He is currently detained in the Senate along with two other former DPWH engineers, Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza, and contractor Pacifico "Curlee" Discaya, in connection with the flood control projects scandal.

Alcantara was cited in contempt by the Senate blue ribbon committee on September 18 for allegedly lying about his involvement in ghost projects.

Alcantara, along with former Bulacan first district engineers Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza, had previously requested house arrest from the Senate.
