DOTr suspends license of police rider for 90 days over reckless driving

The driver's license of a motorcycle rider, believed to be a police officer, has been suspended for 90 days due to reckless driving, using a bike lane, and not wearing a helmet.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced the suspension after a viral video showed the uniformed rider, identified as Homer Sanares Urbano, committing these violations.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) issued a show-cause order to Urbano, demanding an explanation for his actions, including disregarding traffic signs and violating helmet laws.

Urbano was also required to justify why his driver's license should not be suspended or revoked for being unfit to operate a motor vehicle.

In addition to the license suspension, Urbano's motorcycle has been placed under alarm to prevent any transactions during the ongoing investigation.

Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez reiterated that traffic laws apply equally to everyone, including police officers.
