DOTr seeks P3B for new LRT-1 Talaba Station

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is requesting P3 billion from the 2026 national budget to construct the new Talaba Station in Bacoor, Cavite, as an addition to the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project.

This proposed station was requested by the City of Bacoor to accommodate its new developments and is projected to be completed by 2028, aligning with the extension's other stations.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon confirmed the P3 billion funding request from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

After construction by the government, the Talaba Station will be managed and operated by Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC).

The project will involve a bidding process to ensure plans are coordinated with LRMC, although Dizon anticipates minimal difficulties as it involves adding a station between the existing Zapote and Talaba stations.

The DOTr aims to finish the LRT-1 extension segment up to Zapote by 2028, with plans to also complete the Talaba and Niog stations within the same timeframe.
