DOTr: Student beep card to be launched Sept. 20
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has rescheduled the launch of the discounted student Beep cards to September 20, 2025, after a previous postponement due to system issues.
The original launch date of September 15 was moved because of identified system problems.
DOTr acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez stated that an immediate solution to the system issues has been found.
Lopez emphasized the urgency of the launch, acknowledging the long wait of student passengers for the discounted cards.
Starting September 20, student Beep cards, along with those for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, will be printed on-the-spot at MRT-3 and LRT-1 and LRT-2 stations upon presentation of valid IDs.
The student Beep Cards will require renewal or reactivation each school year.
