PNR orders stations’ dismantling
The Philippine National Railways (PNR) is set to open two new stations in Camarines Sur, specifically Libmanan and Lupi, in October.
This new route aims to eventually establish a direct line from Bicol to Laguna, fulfilling the President's order to restore the Laguna to Bicol route.
However, the Department of Transportation has ordered the immediate dismantling of 10 PNR stations between Sta. Mesa, Manila, and Cabuyao, Laguna, to make way for the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project.
The dismantling is in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to fast-track major transportation projects.
The NSCR project is expected to be operational by 2032 and will serve commuters across Central Luzon, Metro Manila, and CALABARZON.
