DOTr launches cashless payment for Edsa Busway via GCash

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has launched a cashless payment system for the Edsa Busway, allowing commuters to pay their fares using GCash via Scan to Pay QRPH.

The initiative, launched at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITx), was a collaboration between DOTr, GCash, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), LTFRB, and transport corporations.

This modernization aims to offer a more convenient and hassle-free travel experience, especially during peak hours.

The EDSA Busway served over 63 million passengers in 2024, averaging about 177,000 daily commuters.

Commuters using the cashless option will still be eligible for existing discounts for students, PWDs, and senior citizens.

DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez stated this system aligns with the President's directive to modernize and improve the travel experience for passengers.
